Tom:
Hi Bobby
I just thought i'd send you a quick email to let you know that I
think you're an awesome singer, and musician. Toto is by far my biggest
influence musically, and it's great to see guys who were melting faces 30 years
ago can still do it today. Seeing you guys play in melbourne has really
given me comfort in knowing that if I stick to playing what I love, i'll do
well as a musician, as you certainly have. I enjoy showing my singer buddies
your music, and seeing them react to the intensity and passion of your
vocals. In an industry so dry of real solid talent, its great to see fellas like
you who rely on pure musical talent and skill. I'm 20 years old, and
tonnes of other folks my age are digging your music, which is a testiment to
Toto's timelessness. Anyway bobby, what i guess i'm trying to say is ...
thanks for the inspiration. Good luck with Toto, and make sure you hound the
boys about coming back to Australia!!!!
Cheers Mate
Tom
Bobby:
Hi Tom. Thanks for the encouraging words. We've had fun for so long
at what we do, and I highly recommend that you stay the course and
keep doing what you do. Your dreams will come true out of doing this.
Thanks for writing me, and keep in touch........................Bobby
Brian:
A hometown gig sounds like a blast!!! I hope I see the tour again,
still loving the new disk, I've told hundreds of people
it's your best work and their dopes if they don't run out and buy it,
and I know a few people that agree it's equal or surpasses IV as a
complete work from end to end. Sometimes in the past you guys sounded
like you were playing backup band for each others songs, but the new
disk the lines are blurred, and I really love it, especially your
impassioned vocals that are that fine line between technical and
emotional, where everything sounds natural and pure and not forced.
I struggle with that sometimes, where I'm trying to get a singer to hit
a line and hit the notes, but without sounding they're concentrating on
hitting the notes. I guess where it crosses over into art and mastery
of one's axe. I swear it's probably the first commercially viable disk
I've gotten in five years that got me excited about creating music again.
I got really bummed out after the mid 90's when budgets started getting
cut and all the bands I liked stopped recording great efforts like
Toy Matinee, and Yes. Like Michael Jordan's love of the game spirit, I
think that's what I'm listening to on your new disk, it sounds like a
celebration of the love of making music as a band and you almost
never hear that anymore.
Bobby:
Hi Brian. I couldn't agree more, because we started with no songs
and jammed the tracks this time. It became a totaly group effort, and
that's why it sounds a bit like everyone is writing on this CD. It
was one of the most fun CD's we've done. I'm gload you can appreciate
that fact. I hope you are well and thanks for chiming in on that
subject. Talk to you soon guy.....Bobby
Matt & Lucy:
Dear Mr. Kimball,
First of all can I offer my thanks in taking a few minutes from your
very, very busy schedule to read my email. It's mainly an offer of
compliments for you and the Toto members rather than a question. So if it's
possible I would love to share my thoughts on Falling in Between (?).
I'm a great fan of many styles of music, an enthusiastic
pianist/composer and with a wide selection of records. But I say true to you Mr.
Kimball, that Falling in Between is, for me, a work of art.
To begin with, I hear one of the most inspirational rock singers of
all time in the company of the most elite musicians in the world... all
combined with passionate lyrics and breathtaking melodies accompanied with the
warmth of rich harmonies.
It's a fantastic array of stlyes, time signatures and at the same
time encompassing every human mood that we feel e.g happy; soulful or just
rocking!
Steve Lukather to me is one of the greatest of all time. He doesn't
just play a Guitar... he makes it sound alive. He makes it sing. And
certainly in this album, I believe he has done this to his best with spine
tingling solos and riffs.
Simon Phillips to me, is the best Drummer in the world. A bold
statement I know, but to listen to his contribution on F.I.B; with his mind
boggling timing, feel, signatures and basically knowing the best rhythms to
suit each songs...I think the answer to that statement is certainly in this
album!
With the new edition of Greg Phillinganes to Toto... all I can say is
'who else can stand next to David Paich and still sound good'!!! As a
pianist myself, on this album - he is an inspiration.
Mike Porcaro is not just a Bassist. In every song he plays - he has
the responsibility to give the deeper expression to music. His applied
skill and the warmth of production shows this in the albums' entirety.
At 23 years old, I can only read Toto's history. But now, for myself
and other young fans of Toto...
we all have the pleasure in experiencing the multi-talented Steve
Porcaro and the great voice of Joseph Williams - all on one album! To the
older generation of fans who have had the sentiment of nostalgia in Toto's
history... It must feel like a gift to them.
This sincerely is my favourite album and I felt deeply passionate
about complimenting you personally.
We can't wait for the next one!!! Cheers to you,
Matt and Lucy.
U.K
Bobby:
Hi Matt & Lucy. The standards to which we hold ourselves are those
that may induce these kinds of letters. Certainly we hold dear, every
ounce of passion that can be put forth on anything we do, thus the
Toto learning-curve on any CD we may offer to you, our fans. Thank
you from the bottom of our hearts for listening closely, and
appreciating our efforts. It just may be you, the musicians, we're
trying to impress most. Of course, we try to out-do ourselves as best
we can, but it's great to know someone is really listening.
Thanks again, and here's looking forward to another CD that may gnaw
at your thoughts. Later..................Bobby
--- End of latest update ---
Johnny:
Bobby the vocal rip mister!!
I had to write after feeling your vocals move my mind, body, and soul
in a way which is honestly indescribable. The "Falling in Between" album
has taken your abilities to new heights once again! You are truly a gift to
TOTO and fans like me.
It's amazing how many times I have repeated a few seconds of a song
just to hear the way you articulate and acrobatically blow me away with some
notes you hit while singing certain phrases within a song. Like everyone
else in the band, every note is thought out and delivered with perfection,
except you sing the notes! The only other vocalists I can listen to after
being spoiled by you is Dan Huff from the 80's band "GIANT" and Lou Graham from
"FOREIGNER" (of course Luke, Dave, Phil and other friends as well)
I've seen you perform live with TOTO numerous times and it just keeps
getting better with age...like a fine wine. Bobby, don't ever
stop...
Johnny Fi
P.S. You are my favorite!
Bobby:
Hi Johnny. Thanks for that. I always do my best to enjoy myself
onstage and in the studio. The guys in Toto always try to be
perfectionists, and everything we do is important to us,......right
down to the very last detail. This is how we achieve that feeling you
enjoy. It's totally a group effort though. I can only sing things as
well as I do, but Simon Phillips and David Paich bring out the very
best in my voice, so it's not just me alone. It's a concerted effort
on all our parts. I do thank you for your comments, but please
realize that this happens because we all do it together. You take
care.............Bobby
Tom:
Hello Bobby!!!
I hope you get to read this, maybe it inspires you...I don't know.
Last night, Sunday 20.August I got to hear you and Toto in Graz; Austria. I had
played a gig with my band in the afternoon, and only got to hear the last few
songs. If we wouldn't have been so wiped and I had to bring the drummer's kit
back to his place I would have tried to see you in person, we know some of the
guys backstage... anyway: here's my story.
It must have been sometime @79 in Hamburg, Germany. You and some of
the band had just signed with CBS records Europe for your first album. You and the
guys were having dinner in this restaurant which was a hide out place for most
folks of the rockcircuit in those days. I was playing guitar there, and after
I played you came over and introduced yourself as a singer of this band called
Toto. We had a glass of wine together with 2 Hamburg Ladies. Somehow you also
got the girl from CBS to send me that great album, which I enjoyed very much.
I have kept on playing that guitar, still at it, moved from Hamburg
to South America, back to Europe, then on to Thailand, back to Europe,
Hungary... finally " settled " for the first time 11 years ago, here near Graz,
Austria. Had 9 kids with my wife, age 28-9, and still making music for a
living.
Hope you enjoyed that story and maybe even vaguely remember??
Wishing you all the best. Sorry to have missed you in person, but
glad I heard you on stage. God bless and stay healthy and well.
tom.

Bobby:
Hi Tom. I would not be telling you the truth if I told you I
remenber that night we met, but I'm very happy you got a chanced to
come out for the last few songs in Graz. it was a special night for
us, as it was the last concert of that leg of our tour. We'll start
the tour in America again soon.
Seems you've been quite busy,......9 children. I hope you come up
with at least a few musicians out of that crowd. My hat's off to you
for making such a great home life for yourself, and I do realize it's
not easy to do this as a musician. Best of luck to you and I hope to
see you next time we're close to your area. take care
guy.............Bobby
Richard:
Hey Bobby, I just wanted to again say that words just aren't enough
to convey our thanks for you supreme generosity over the last few days.
Man you literally made a life long dream come true and solidify the
admiration that I've had for you guys ever since the beginning. Thank
you ever so much for taking the time to stop and talk to us in Sault Ste
Marie and then the next night in Muskegon was just absolutely
unbelievable. I was very happy that I could share that experience
with my brother as he has been a life long fan as well. We did get into a
little bit of trouble for leaving the wedding reception early, but as they
say music sooths the savage beast and on Saturday night, my brother and I
serenaded my aunt and uncle as they celebrated their 34th wedding
anniversary on the shores of Lake Michigan and she is happy once
again!
It's the love of music that drives all of us and it has shown with
you and the rest of the guys ever so much more these days. Thank you for
touring America again and enjoy yourselves so much over in Europe. If
you get a chance to listen to those cd's I hope that is enjoyable for you
as well and feel free to laugh all you want, we're just a bunch of old
guys too just having fun. I do hope that we'll get the chance to meet
again and maybe you would get to see the impact that you guys have on a
younger generation that is growing up right now that's in search of "real
music" by getting to see how this past weekend had a huge impact on my two
boys and how music has shaped their lives and careers. One more time,
THANK
YOU so much for being a true gentleman. God Bless! Richard.
Bobby:
Hi Richard. It was great to meet you and your family. What a nice
"bunch-0-lugs" you guys turned out to be. You have to know we
probably had more fun than you did, but it's all part of what we do.
So glad you came out and you're welcome at any of our shows. Anyone
who drives 1000 miles to see Toto is 1st class in my books. You take
care and we'll see you again..........Bobby
Drew:
G'day Bobby!
Recently I attended your gig in Sydney and
man........I WAS BLOWN AWAY!! Of course I anticipated
it would be great but....even AWESOME would be a gross
understatement to the show you guys put on.
My girl came along and , while being a fan of a few
Toto tracks prior....she is now as inspired by you and
somewhat fanatical as I am....we've been listening to
Falling in Between (and also Toto's back catalogue)
and finding something new with each listen. We love it.
Bobby I can certainly say you are one singer I am
inspired by and I appreciate the energy and passion
you put into your singing.
I sing a bit too(Not nearly as much as I should!) and
really do want to do more than the few tours/gigs with
cover bands that ive previously done. I feel a bit at
a loss to find my solid direction/style..I love Rock
and R&B, soul, Jazz a bit of everthing really but when
IM asked to do a session with anyone, I seem to add
all of my influences into one....(my vocal style is a
bit eclectic and not really definably one jenre or
another) which from a production point of view may not
be the best thing for the artist(s) Im working with
and the comment; "your're not really here or there"
has been thrown around on occasion.....have you ever
been in a similar situation and if so...what would you
suggest?
I can dig you're a busy man and if by chance you can
offer any advice...I'd REALLY appraciate it
Thanx man,
Peace & hair grease
Drew
P.S Another fav singer of mine is Eric Benet.Wondering
What do you think of Eric Benets 1999 cover of Georgy
Porgy and who are some of your vocal heros???
Bobby:
Hi Drew. I think you'll have to emulate a lot of singers before you
(or anyone else) will really understand "your style". I've taken bits
and pieces from all the singers I copied and loved over the years,
and they became a part of my soul. I kept only those things I admired
most about the different voices, and I try to incorporate that into
what I'm doing. Sometimes it wasn't even a vocal-thing that impressed
me about a particular singer, it may have been more an attitude-thing
I liked about them. However, each little piece from all of them make
up what I define as "my style". People tell me I sound unique, but I
know where all came from. I have so many heros, but mostly the people
I listened to were the black singers during the 60's & 70's. Ray
Charles was the most profound influence on me, as I started singing
"because I heard him sing". What I felt at the moment I first heard
Ray sing, I cannot describe, but it was truly life-changing for me. I
went through most of the "singers du-juor" during these
times,....Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye,
Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway,.....far too many to mention on one
e-mail. Then I got into the British Rock scene with The Who, Rolling
Stones, Beatles,....etc. All that mixed up into one voice is where
I'm coming from.
I wouldn't worry too much about what someone else thinks of the way
you sing, as long as you enjoy yourself. All voices are an acquired
taste, so the more fun you have with your voice, the more others will
like what you're doing.
By the way, I like Eric B. and I think he's very good.
I hope this helps, and keep in touch. Love having you both aboard
with Toto.................Bobby
Giorgio:
Ciao from Italy Bobby!
This is Giorgio, as you might guess, a fan... I do feel a bit
embarassed in bothering your spare time with this, but I really felt
to share this feeling with the person where it came from
I do consider myself a music lover... I believe I live my own
relationship with music as much as anyone else could with a person.
So you love it, you hate it, you fight, and in the end... you make
peace again!
I used to consider music as the greatest low cost travel company...
since it's just enough closing your eyes to be wherever you want in
space and time!
But one day I got up realizing my feelings were properly directed
everywhere but on nowdays music! I am a TOTO fan, I do love Elton
John, Queen, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Supertramp, well... MUSIC.
And every single time I swtiched on the radio to hear where and who
is the new Elton John, I just found myself turning it off to come
back to my CD Player...
Then... I bought Falling in Between...
well... please do not take this for granted since everyone is
speaking good about it... But I spent hours and hours tourning the
sleve back and front to read again and again that an album like that
came out in 2006!!!
To describe how I felt...well let's ask some help to Stevie: "Joy
Inside My Tears" !!!
I approced TOTO world not so far away.... (through the looking glass
album...) and it was none of your hits stealing my heart... it's been
your voice on Burn Down The Mission!!!! The only cover I cosider in
full copetition with the original!
Since then I just bought eveyr single aalbum and so on... putting you
and Stevie Wonder in the list of the two greatest technically and
emotionally singers in the world!
The way you use that voice awakes every single emotion of my
sensibility! Like for istance your entrance on Spiritual Man... I do
listen till tha tpoint that I do come back again and again only to
hear those 20 seconds!
Then Hooked, King of The World and Dying on My Feet are 3
masterpieces! Hard choice since for me this album is already a
classic!
The thing that drives me mad is that I finally succeeded in taking
tickets for your Rome and Nimes Shows... dreaming by now the taste of
deep emotions I will leave while you'll be performing !
I really hope to hear back from you... even because I'd love to send
you the cd I just finished to record, since you're among the
principal artists who inspired me to put it down... I assume this
might be asking for much, but I had to try...
big hugs
Giorgio Onorato Aquilani
Bobby:
Hi Giorgio. Thank you for your most honest and deep-felt e-mail. I
think you must understand how I felt when I first heard Toto when the
band was brand new. This is why I fell so in love with the music we
make. We all still feel that way today, and I think it has a lot to
do with our "not getting older, just better."
I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to put your e-mail on my web
site, as it moved me.................Bobby
Yasu:
Dear Bobby-san,
Sounds like the FIB tour's been a big success already!
I get excited just reading the reviews. No New York or
New Jersey dates yet......but I couldn't wait, so I am
going to the show in Penn's Peak, PA, which I am not
even sure where it is exactly, but that is the earliest one
that I could manage to go to. I am so happy to see
you again soon!
I am still loving FIB, and amazingly I still don't get tired of it.
It has even caused me a side effect! As many of the Toto
fans are either musicians or have some kind of musical
background, I am not an exception. Although I am not a
professional musician, I started playing the violin when
I was five years old and played in an orchestra later on.
I also was a singer in a band and played a little guitar and
harmonica back in high school and college. But I somehow
started receding from everything after I finished the college
and got a job, which had no connection to music. It's been
over 15 years, but something happened inside of me,
listening to Falling in Between. It inspired me so deeply
that I felt like I wanted to play music again myself instead
of just listening. I thought about picking up the violin or
guitar again....but I wanted to do something more challenging
just like it must had been for you to make the album.
There was a musical instrument that I had always wished
that I could play since I was a teenager....but always thought
that it was too late to start.....to play the piano. But I decided
to start for the first time at the age of 37. It is actually not
that I wanted to copy the songs on the album. (In fact,
I am learning classical music right now as I am familiar
with it from playing the violin) The inspiration is something
more and deeper - the album found a part of me that had
been lost and forgotten for a long time.
Anyway I bought a Yamaha digital piano (weighted 88 keys)
and now I am totally hooked. I can already play a few
easy songs with both hands, and I believe I can even
get pretty good if I keep trying. This might not sound all
that special to you, but it is a big change in my boring life.
Learning to play the piano has been such a life changing
experience in a lot of ways. It is very challenging, yet
very rewarding, and it is simply such joy and fun to play
music again. More importantly, it seems to fill a hole that
I felt I had in my heart for a long time.
Anyway, the album was created by all the band members
and I am thankful to each member...but I would especially
like to thank YOU. Well, I am simply a fan of yours, which is
a part of it, but more importantly your personal attention to
your each fan (I still don't know how you can do that)
definitely makes your music more personal. Consequently,
it touches each fan more personally and more deeply.
I believe this is a result of your such kindness,
devotion, effort, and love for your fans in addition to
the greatest musicianship and the talent of Toto.
I will see you at Penn's Peak in July and when you come
to New York or Mohegan Sun again, I will be there also.
Bobby:
Good day Yasu. Thank you for being so kind and for loving Toto the
same as I do. It's a v ery special gift that we have fans so devoted,
and it's the main reason we keep making music.
I wish you lots of success on the keyboard, as I play a little
myself, but never while Greg is in the room. He's the master. Thansk
for the very nice letter, and I'll see you in Pa..............Bobby
David:
Dear Bobby,
It has been a while since I wrote to you (do not want to be too much
of a pest) but I just had to comment on the latest Toto CD.
Outstanding music played by masters. Nothing more to say. I really
enjoyed the album, all the hard work was worth it, I only wish there
were more master musicians making albums nowadays.
Two other things...
1. The download facility through the website is wonderful! As the
album is not available in my part of Spain, this was the only way I could
get my hands on it. Best $12 bucks I have spent in 7 years.
2. I see that you will be coming to Spain in July. I am thrilled by
the chance to see you and Toto live again. I will be there (with or
without the wife and kids.)
Thanks again for sharing your talent, I really appreciate it. I know
you will be super busy in Madrid and Barcelona but I would be pleased to
offer you and any person connected to Toto a drink, dinner or a tour
(I know both cities well and speak Spanish fluently.)
If nothing else, when you peer into the crowd in Spain, know that
your fans have nothing but admiration and appreciation for the band. I
will be there, but I will be difficult to spot, just another smiling,
appreciative fan.
Best regards,
David Olson
Bobby:
Hi David. Thank you for being there for us. It's been such a long,
dry spell for us out there in the media market, and finally we come
to the best part of our careers with "Falling In Between". What a
glorious feeling it is, indeed, to have worked so hard on something,
and have it appreciated by so many of our beloved fans. These are the
same people who have been ther with us while the press pushed our
faces into the mud. It didn't, however, make us feel bad, as we know
what we do, and only hope that those who listen would at least admire
how hard we work at our craft.
We really look forward to our very first trip to Spain, and we know
we have a lot of fans for us in this jewel of a country called Spain.
It will be a very special time for us as well as the ones who will
show up at the concerts. Take care my friend and I'll be looking for
you at the show..............Bobby
Kaemi:
Congratulations on the new album!! Unfortunately, I
haven't heard it yet since it doesn't get to Puerto Rico in a
while. But I promise, I will get it ASAP. I still admire
you guys a lot and I wish a lot of success after all these
years. In May it's my 3 years as a TOTO fan
birthday!! Anyways, I want to thank you again for being part of
such an amazing band, a band that has influenced my life, even in an
island where it's hard NOT to follow trends, and I don't, thanks to
you guys. I've handled my teenage years very properly with REAL
music. Please, do send my greetings to the band, and again, enjoy
life to it's fullest and succeed as much as you possibly can. You
deserve it.
Your boricua girl
Kaemi
Bobby:
Hi Kaemi. I love your name. We get down to PR ever so often. We have
a lot of friends there, so, of course we look forward to being there
again. The new CD, "Falling In Between" is becoming a cult classic in
Europe already. The concerts are mostly sold-out, and the CD is
flying off the shelves. It's very nice to have you aboard and I look
forward to hearing from "after you get the CD". Take care sweetie and
keep in touch...............Bobby
Ludvig:
Hi Bobby. I saw you guys perform in Stockholm yesterday and it was the best
thing I have ever seen. I was totally blown away by the show. Man, It´s even
hard finding words to describe how good it was. And the new the new album rocks completely.
It´s defentely one of your best works ever and problably one of the greatest record ever made.
So keep up the good work and I wish you the best....................... Ludvig Schönborg
PS: Greet all the toto members for me, please and I give you guys my thank you
from the bottom of my heart. You are the best band to ever lived on
this planet
Bobby:
Thanks so much, and thanks for coming out to see us. Most musicians
enjoy the concerts, as it is a bit on the tricky side
musically,......some people just don't get it. Glad we have a lot of
musicians that love the band. It keeps us on our toes. Take care and
keep in touch..............Bobby
Daniel:
Bobby-- Just heard the Japan release of Falling-- You're a freak of
nature-- how you still GET IT DONE after 30 freakin' years should be
investigated by science-- I'm listening to 'Dying On My Feet" right
now-- and "I'm Just Dying!!!"... thanks for this one for the TRUE
BELIEVERS-- You guys are the last oasis in what has become the
wasteland of music-- God Bless You-- I'll see you when the tour
CRUSHES L.A.-- Daniel Nelson.
Bobby:
Hi Daniel. Thanks, but I think more that I'm just a FREAK from the
60's. I'm really glad you like the CD, as it was one of the most fun
things we've ever done. I do hope to see you in LA. You have fun on
tour guy, and I hope to see you there......Bobby
Tim:
Cheers Bobby,
What an album U guys have crafted this time!! Congratulations on a
stunning release. It clearly shows that the band had a laugh playing just what
U felt like and that everyone has put their mind, heart and efforts into
this piece of art.
FiB has an overall new and fresh sound, beautiful melodies, dynamic
intersections, it's huge, it's raw, it's tight, it's effortlessly
played (as always with Toto), it's unpredictable, has scary vocal arrangements,
it's all encompassing yet focused and it has strong lyrics with content
and messages that makes sense and moves the listener. Having Greg on
board is a bonus to a unique band and letting Steve Porcaro do his magic in the
studio clearly adds fresh, cool and yet typical Toto sounds to the music.
His touch somehow belongs on every Toto studio release.
Knowing that the band is busy rehearsing for a really big tour, that
Toto Network is in the works (sounds promising!) and that U have worked
hard on finishing this magnificent album I still would like your thoughts on
a possible DVD recording that could be released on the day Toto
celebrates 30th. Anniversary? Also, during breaks from the upcoming world tour,
at soundchecks or on the road would you be playing around with ideas for
new tunes? I know that this was your plan during NOTP if it hadn't been
for Simon and David that had to address health issues.
Thank you for the album, for your time and for this band's incredible
music, ability and dedication. Looking much forward to be seeing and hearing
Toto live soon.
Nothing but the best,
Tim
Bobby:
Hi Tim. What an amazing review for us. Thank you and we hope to see
you in Denmark as well. We're in the middle of production rehearsals
for sound and lights at the moment. It's a busy time for us all, so
this will have to be short. I hope you get everything you need out of
our music, as it certainly gives us pleasure to get messages of hope
like yours. I'm putting it on the web site. You take care my
friend.....Bobby
Francis:
Hi Bobby
Tthere is no word strong enough to describe what I feel today! My
name is francis I am 37 and I have been living a real love story with
toto's music for more than 20 years!I would like to say that "falling in
between" is one of the biggest orgasms of that love story!! It is absolutely BALLS
TO THE WALL!!! The songs are all amazing and I can't wait to hear gems
like"king of the world","dying on my feet" and the FABULOUS "let it go" at the
french Bordeaux concert! I would also like to thank the band for touring so
regularly in france: it is gonna be the 5th time I attend a toto
concert in my hometown! It is a thrill for me as I don't have much opportunities
to see my other favourites acts ( hall and oates, kenny loggins, boz
scaggs, chicago-yes I do mean chicago...)
More than an album of toto "falling in between" is also a family
affair because of the addition of old friends on some tracks: joseph willams
of whom I own several solo albums and I am a huge fan, James Pankow of
course and jason scheff!! I am also very moved by the inclusion of Greg
Phillinganes as a second keybordist (the very first album I bought was Michael
Jackson's "off the wall" it was 25 years ago and he has played as you boys on 75 per
cent of the records I own, inluding Patti Austin, Pointer sisters...he is
also the hell of a singer and my biggest vocal thrill since Eric Tagg!!!
BRILLANT!!!
Bobby I would also like to tell that your return was the best
thing that could happen because YOU are also an amazing singer and I have
been thrilled by your solo albums "rise up" and "all I ever needed" as well
as your live performances!!! And more your return gave birth to two of toto's
most beautiful babies "mindfields" and "falling..."

Bobby:
Hi Francis. Thank you so much for everything you just said. We
appreciate our fans in France, and so much look forward to sharing
the live show there.
We were so blessed with having some of the best musician friends on
the new CD. It only made it all so much more fun. I hope to see you
in France and keep in touch guy................Bobby
Sturla:
Dear Bobby,
What a great performance you did on the latest Toto effort! Truly a
remarkable strong voice and it is very evident that you guys had a
great time in Simon's studio in conceiving this baby. I really,
really enjoy listening to it.
I play drums and have been a HUGE Simon Phillips fan since the late
80's. And I am really looking forward to seeing you, and of course
Simon, play here in Norway at Oslo Spektrum 4th March.
Congratulations on Falling in Between.
Sincerely,
Sturla Nřstvik
Oslo, Norway
Bobby:
Thank you so much. We're all very excited about the CD, and the
upcoming tour. See you in Oslo......Bobby
Rob:
Hey Bobby!!
Long time no speak!! Hope things are good with you bro??!
I just heard Falling In Between in it's entirety today and I wanted
to congratulate you and the rest of the guys for such a stellar effort,
it's really been worth the wait - in fact I actually mean it's been worth
waiting so many years for you all to be able to put out the music that YOU
want, without having to pander to record companies or radio stations at the
same time. It's just great to hear some of the finest musicians in the
world getting it on without outside interference. Also I wanted to
compliment you on your soaring vocal performances on this one - simply sensational,
in fact I think it's probably the best I've heard from you to this point and
that's no mean feat!! I really think FIB is a highlight in an already
remarkable 30 year career for the whole band and I hope it will continue for
another 30 years!
So my best wishes to you and the guys - I hope the album reaps the
success it deserves and the upcoming tour progresses smoothly and safely.
I'll be at the opening night in London on the 25th - REALLY looking forward to
that. It's been around 8 months since I last caught you guys in
Frederikstad in Norway so I'm more than ready for another show!
Best wishes to you bro,
Rob
Bobby:
Hi Rob. I appreciate your comments ont eh new CD. We feel the same
way about it. It's going to be a great tour for us and please come on
back and say hello in London. You take care guy..............Bobby
Stuart & Vanessa:
Dear Bobby,
Just a note to say thanks for providing us with yet another stunning
Toto album and a personal performance which is inspiring! My fondest
recollections of Toto are all with you as lead singer, and my wife &
I saw you at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2004 for the first
time. That concert was superb and I was just so pleased to be able to see
you guys live at last. Your performance blew me away and I have to say,
we're just so looking forward to seeing you at the Hammersmith Apollo
in 12 days time!
My question is, did you know that this album was something special
when you were writing it? Everyone seems to be giving that little bit
extra and your performance on "Dying on my feet" is just on another plane.
Thanks again Bobby for continuing to keep Toto genuine and for the
care and the passion you give to your craft.
Cheers
Bobby:
Hi Stuart & Vanessa. Thank you so much for the nice words about the
CD. We di actually put in some extra time and effort to make it one
of our best releases ever. We did have an inkling that it was
special, but not until all of the lyrics and recordign was done did
we realize just how special it was. We did notice we were having an
extraordinarily good time though. It just kept getting better and
better as the days passed. All said and done, I feel really great
about "Falling In Between", and even better about the live show we're
about to do in London. We're excited..................Bobby
Mark:
Hi Bobby,
You don't know how frustrating it is waiting for the time to go till
the release date of the new record. These 60sec snippets are so
tantalising and am even turning the volume up on the pc at the end of
the clips to get more of the fade outs...Sad isnt it. You kindly
replied to my first email about a year ago. I had just re discovered
you guys by a google search one evening. Have now just about worn out
the Amsterdam DVD. I still find something fresh in it every time I
play it.
I have my tickets for London on the 25th. I know it will be an amazing
experience to see it all done live in front of me. I know Greg is now
the replacement for David, I would just have loved to see David up
there also.
Is there a possibility he might be on the first show of the tour,I
think it would mean a lot to the Toto fans and would get the next
TOTO chapter off to a great start.
Thanks to you guys for giving the planet such wonderful, quality
music, and have a great tour...I know it will be.
Best Regards
Mark. (U.K.)
Bobby:
Hi Mark. Unfortunately, David won't be there in the UK, but
fortunately, Greg will. Greg has been a saving grace to us in many
ways, as he has made the "keyboard chair" his own in a very short
time. Not only does he fill David's shoes, he's one of my favorite
singers now. After listening to our first rehearsals, I'm very
confident you won't miss a thing. It's even beating our expectations.
See you in London guy...............Bobby
Sam:
Hi Bobby,
1st of all, sorry if my english is not so clear because I can't
speak english very well. As a great fan of Toto and you, I'm so happy
to visit your website and to see that I can send email to you .
Congratulations for the Toto's new album "falling in between", it
sounds so great and I'm looking forward to seeing it in stores in
Paris. As a great fan of Toto, I'm very amazed by your
strong-hight-beautfiul voice! As I will go for the 1st time in my
life in your concert (because I live in Madagascar before) on March,
I'd like to ask you if it's possible for you to see songs who has
performed by Jo Wlliams such as Stop loving you (especially this
one), Pamela, because they are my best Toto songs with Africa,
Rossanna and I'll be over you.
Hope to hear from you very soon and look forward to seeing you soon
on stage (it sounds so magic...)
Best regards,
Sam
Bobby:
Hi Sam. You're gong to be really happy about the set list, because
we're doing all of those songs on this tour. Plus we've added some
things from the Isolation CD that are pretty amazing. The whole set
list has been changed, and I love the songs we're playing this time.
Look for some great moments this time around. See you there and I
hope to meet you at the concert.......................Bobby
Peter:
Hi, Bobby, it's Peter from Bulgaria. I want to say you
only one big "WOW". You surpassed my expectations. I
don't have a words to explain you how I feel in this
moment hearing Dying on my feet, Hooked, Let It
Go. Before one hour The Japanese Version of Falling In
Between comes to me and now I listen it. For me this is
the best album I ever heard in my whole Life. Bottom Of
Your Soul is beautiful song I like the solo between
Luke and Gregg. You are brilliant, man. You sing
great, believe me. This album is the music. I'll give you
the grammy right now, in this moment. Reefer
Man-great, very Mahavishnu style. Just I don't know
what to say. I wish You ALL THE BEST and I hope WE'LL
see soon in Bulgaria. Thank You Very Much :))))))))
Bobby:
Hi Pete. I'm really happy you like the new CD. We put a lot to
thought, time, effort, and work into making it best CD possible. This
is truly one of the finest Toto efforts, and we know it. IT's all of
us at our best. I can't wait to make another one now. The tour will
be awesome for sure. You take care and hope to see you in
Bulgaria.................Bobby
Ede:
I heard a "rumour" that it is possibility to hear my
favourite song "Going Home" in Finland. I have been
two times in Toto-concert and this is so magnificent
news that it is finally (even a possibility) to hear
Goin' Home!
Not only because it's just a Great Song, it has deeper
meaning to me. Last time I was seeing Toto it was just
week before my trip to Kenya. I have dreamed all my
life that I could live in Kenya or Tanzania. And
especially this part "Going back to the place where my
heart belongs, Goin' home" makes whole song so special
to me. It connects my two passions: music and love to
wild nature, East-Africa.
I hope that "third time says the truth" but even if it
doesn't it's still great thing to see you guys again!
I'm gonna party all time!
Keep On Rockin!
Ede
Bobby:
Hello Ede. I wish I could say we'll be playing "Goin' Home" on this
tour, but it's not in the setlist yet. Of course we're really just
putting it all together at reherarsals at the moment, so anything
could change at this time. So far, we have a killer set to do, but
there are so many choices of songs now, it's hard to find the
"perfect list" for everyone. We'll be playing an accoustic set, and a
medley that encompass a broad range of songs, so I'm sure we'll touch
your heart along the way through it.
You take care and thanks for writing................Bobby
